About DigitalConverter

We publish free, browser-based file utilities backed by original guides and transparent data practices.

Our mission

DigitalConverter helps people convert, compress, and edit PDFs, images, videos, audio, and developer files without installing desktop software. We believe everyday file tasks should be fast, free, and respectful of privacy—especially when documents contain personal, financial, or business-sensitive information.

Unlike upload-first converter sites, most of our tools process files entirely in your browser using modern JavaScript and WebAssembly. That design keeps your bytes on your device for the majority of workflows, while we publish detailed guides explaining how each tool works and when server processing is required.

What we offer

  • 40+ free tools across PDF, image, video, audio, OCR, and developer categories.
  • Editorial guides with step-by-step instructions, technical context, and troubleshooting tips on every tool page.
  • A knowledge base of long-form tutorials on file formats, compression, scanning, and privacy.
  • Transparent policies covering cookies, advertising, and file handling in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

How we handle your files

For PDF, image, video, audio, OCR, and developer utilities, processing happens locally in your web browser. We do not permanently store those uploads on our servers. Word-to-PDF and PDF-to-Word conversions use a short-lived server pipeline because accurate layout preservation requires specialized engines; those files are deleted after conversion completes, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We do not require user accounts for standard tool usage. Standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) may be retained for security and performance, separate from file content.

Editorial standards

Our guides are written for real-world workflows—submitting visa packets, preparing podcast audio, compressing images for faster websites, and debugging JSON from production APIs. We update articles when formats or browser capabilities change. Tool pages include FAQs, structured headings, and links to deeper tutorials so visitors understand both the button they click and the technology behind it.

Advertising

We may display third-party advertisements, including Google AdSense, to support free hosting and development. Ads are served according to your cookie consent choices. Advertisers are responsible for their own content; our editorial guides are independent of ad placement.
